About AP98
AP98 is a collection of practical file tools that run entirely in your browser.
What it does
AP98 offers 30 tools across three categories: PDF tools, image tools, and CSV/Excel tools. You can compress a PDF, convert a HEIC photo to JPG, merge CSV files, extract text from a PDF, resize an image, and much more — all without installing software and without uploading your files to a server.
Why browser-first?
Traditional online tools send your file to a server, process it there, and send the result back. That means the server sees your data, and you have to trust it. AP98 takes a different approach: the processing happens on your own device, in your browser tab. The file never leaves your computer.
This is better for privacy, faster for typical files, and works without a registration.
How it works
Each tool uses JavaScript libraries that run in the browser. PDF editing uses pdf-lib and pdf.js. Image processing uses the browser's canvas API. CSV and Excel tools use pure-JavaScript parsers and writers. No backend server is involved in the file processing.
Open source
The tools are built on open-source libraries with permissive licences (MIT, Apache-2.0). The project itself is built with Nuxt, Vue and TypeScript.
Limitations
Browser-based processing has limits: large files take longer because they use your device's memory, not a server's. Each tool page lists its own file-size limits. If a browser lacks a needed capability (for example, HEIC decode), the tool tells you instead of producing a broken file.
