CSV or Excel tool

Excel to CSV

Export one sheet of an XLSX workbook to CSV. Choose the sheet by number or name, and read formulas as the last value saved by Excel, never recalculated here.

Add files

Drop Excel files here, or choose files. Everything stays on this device.

Options

1 is the first sheet. You can also type a sheet name.

Waiting for files

Accepted input

  • XLSX files

Limits

  • Up to 20 MB per CSV/Excel file and up to 100000 rows.
  • CSV, TSV, XLSX and JSON inputs are supported in this category.

Local processing

  • Files are read in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.
  • Nothing is stored after you close or reload the page.

How to use Excel to CSV

  1. Add an XLSX workbook.
  2. Type the sheet number (1 for the first sheet) or the sheet name.
  3. Press Excel to CSV and download the converted CSV.

What it does

  • Lets you pick which sheet to export instead of always using the first one.
  • Reads formulas as their cached value, so the output matches what Excel last saved.
  • Reports the sheet name and any conversion notes.

Limits and things to know

  • Only one sheet is exported per run.
  • Macros, charts and pivot tables are not read or written.
  • Dates are exported in the text form stored in the workbook.

Example

Exporting the second sheet of a report

A workbook has a summary on sheet 1 and transactions on sheet 2. Set the sheet field to 2 or type the sheet name, then convert. The CSV contains the transaction rows rather than the summary.

Frequently asked questions

Are formulas recalculated?

No. The tool never runs a formula engine; it reads the value Excel stored the last time the file was saved.

Can I export every sheet at once?

Not yet. Convert one sheet at a time by changing the sheet number or name.

What happens to empty cells?

They become empty CSV fields, which is the standard representation for a blank cell.
